48 Home Improvements That Qualify For Govt Funds - Family

Would you like to get the United States government to fund your home improvement? The 48 tips below will save you money and you can get uncle Sam to pick up the tab!

ENERGY Star appliances are certified by the government to reduce energy consumption when compared to non-ENERGY Star products. Replacing older appliances will reduce your electric bill by hundreds of dollars per year. 1. Replace your refrigerator. 2. Replace your Dishwasher (Older Dishwashers use 10 times the water and more electricity than newer ones). 3. Unplug your water cooler or upgrade to a refrigerator with a water filtration system. 4. Trade in your old freezer. Stand alone freezers built before 1980's will use more than $80 per year in extra energy. 5. Upgrade your air purifier. Inefficient air purifiers use 40% more energy than efficient ones. 6. Replace your old clothes washer. Newer washing machines use less water, less detergent and less power. 7. Recycle your old dehumidifier. Older dehumidifiers can use 15% more energy than efficient ones. 8. Kill Your Television. Energy inefficient TV's use 40% more power than those approved.

Computers and other media TV, stereos, etc can use an enormous amount of power. Newer media equipment is designed to use less power or to use the power it does consume more efficiently. 9. Replace your computer. Older PC's can use twice as much power as newer models. 10. When possible switch to rechargeable batteries. Rechargeable batteries last longer and cost less per hour than disposable (one use) batteries. 11. Upgrade your DVD or Blu-Ray disc player to an ENERGY Star approved model. 12. Upgrade your cordless phone to an eco friendly one. 13. Get rid of your old converter box. 14. Use power management on your computers monitor setting. 15. When not using your computer, switch your monitor off. 16. Replace your old computer monitor. This will save up to $365 dollars in electricity costs. 17. Ask your cable or satellite provider for an ENERGY Star set top box. ENERGY Star set top boxes/DVR's will use 30% less power.

Reduce your convection footprint. The biggest energy expense in most homes is air conditioning and heating. Also, most homes will waste a majority of the heated and cooled air. Here's how to cut that down: 18. Replace your Old Whole house AC unit. A newer AC unit will save you $300 per year on average. 19. Replace your room AC unit. Newer AC units designed to cool one room will use 10% less power than older models. 20. Have an older boiler? Replace it. Newer boilers use 6% less energy than older ones. 21. Seal Windows. Air leaks will waste some of the heated and cooled air. A bad air leak can waste almost $1,000 per year. 22. Replace your roof. An inefficient roof is one of the largest energy leaks in the home. 23. Replace old windows. Old windows can cause air temperature loss in the winter and increase home heat in the summer. 24. Replace Your Skylights. Skylights can cause air leaks. These leaks will cause a loss of heated or cooled air. Upgrading to ENERGY Star skyligh ts. 25. Seal Outlets. Outlets can leak air. Air leaks cause an un-necessary increase in the overall heating and air-conditioning bills. 26. Wrap air duct connections with duct mastic. Most heating and AC systems will lose more than 20% of air between the HVAC unit and the vent. 27. Add insulation to your attic. Most attics offer inadequate insulation. Hot air rises, losing heat and increasing the cost to heat or cool your home. 28. Add insulation to your walls. The average home in the US lacks the right amount of insulation. By adding insulation to your walls, you can substantially reduce your electric bill. 29. Add insulation to your basement. 13. Install a programmable thermostat. Hagnaya Health Care & Development Project (H.H.C.D.) - Non-Profit

As in many parts of the Philippines Hagnaya too is behind on development, infrastructure, economy and healthcare. Project "Hagnaya Health Care & Development" (H.H.C.D.) unites ideas, partners, sponsors and supporters to create healthcare solutions and development opportunities. The H.H.C.D. Project also focuses on general road and house construction, water supply, employment, power supply, agriculture, food security and education

Project Objectives

Act 1 - 2009Road ConstructionSince September 2009 Hagnaya has its fully cemented road and bus terminal which improves the general transportation services and quality of the community. The H.H.C.D. Project is involved in improving the crossroads within the barangay (village) of Hagnaya to create safer access to water sources and wells and stimulate road safety in general.House ConstructionMany families need support with their homes in order to provide themselves and their children with a safe and healthy living space. Every year heavy weather brings along roofless homes. In many cases the residents (victims) are not able to repair the damage because of the financial obstacles. The H.H.C.D. Project also wants to reach out to the homeless within the community by providing public housing.Water SupplyIn line with a safer access to water sources and wells the H.H.C.D. Project also focuses on water supply in house and road construction activities to stimulate solutions that make water supply at home possible. In many cases people still rely on the help and goodwill of a local resident, often children who, when there's no school, bring water to people's homes from a well or source, on foot using buckets.Power Supply"Brownout" - a drop in voltage, temporarily interruption of the power supply, very common in Cebu and the Philippines. Although the Pilipino people have very well adapted to this problem, in ways that Western communities have forgotten about e.g. because of the high concentration of luxury, it remains an excellent opportunity to continue the research on green energy in general and implement solutions that the results provide.EmploymentBy introducing our activities in Hagnaya, Cebu and by providing advice on e.g. agriculture and education the H.H.C.D. Project can help stimulate general employment. With respect for the community's needs and habbits this can mean more and higher levels of education for many children and teenagers in Hagnaya a nd Cebu.Investing in future generations is our n 1 priority.

Tips For the Best Ipad Power Adapter - Business - ECommerce

Since Apple ipad develops very fast and wins wide popularity around the world, the industry of iPad Power Adapter gradually springs up. Everyone is talking about the iPad, but how do you charge it? Apple has created accessories for that (of course). You can purchase an iPad Power Adapter to charge your iPad. There are other options to charge your iPad like the iPad Keyboard Dock and iPad Dock. The iPad power adapter is for those not wanting to use the iPad Dock options and with less to travel with. This should make it easy to recharge the iPad. Below are the simple steps to buy iPad power adapter. To use the iPad power adapter you will need to buy yourself an iPad. You can pre-order your iPad on March 12th. The WiFi models can be picked up or reserved in the Apple Store for April 3rd. The WiFi/3G model will have to wait until late April though. The iPad power adapter comes with an Apple iPad USB Power Adapter and a six-foot long power cable extension. Check it is all ther e. Test that your iPad power adapter works with your iPad and enjoy your new iPad! A good case in point is The iPad 10W USB Power Adapter, Apple iPad Adapter which cosmetically reverts to the 2006 design, but contains enhancements that have never been seen in an Apple product of this size and price before. New circuitry inside enables the 10W Adapter to work with every iPhone and iPod released since 2005, as well as the comparatively power-hungry iPad, dynamically switching between 0.5 Amp, 1 Amp, and 2.1 Amp output levels so that any of these devices can recharge at its maximum possible rate-roughly 3 hours for iPods and iPhones versus 4 or 4.5 hours for the iPad. Electronic testing of the 10W USB Power Adapter revealed no surprises: it worked just as expected to recharge the iPad, as well as earlier compatible Apple products. Other companies such as Griffin and Incase have released similarly IPad Accessories-compatible wall chargers, but no longer have any price advantage over Apple's version; this is a shame given that $29 continues to be steep for something as simple as a spare power adapter.

How to fix your Computer yourself - Computers

The Power Supply of your PC does just that, takes power from your cord and changes it down to the voltage the computer or ( motherboard ) can handle and distribute. they vary in range Older computers were at 250 watts ( Pentium 1-3 Processor boards) up to these days 750 watts and above! As i mentioned in other articles DUST CAN KILL components by causing overheating! So its a very good idea to take a small can of compressed air at LEAST once a month and blow out your power supply vent(s) after you take the side cover of you Computer case off.. It only take 30 seconds and can help prevent overheating. The fan inside the power supply also help to keep the component in the inside cool cause as we all know where we put our desktop towers ( on the floor next a wall or desk etc..) where there isn't alot of ventilation for air to flow. so case fans and fan in the power supply are pretty much a MUST. A case fan help to circulate all the air flow inside the case and help keeps ever ything inside the case cooler than it would be without it. Power supply all pretty much do the same thing but over the years the interfaces have evolved, from standard 20 Pinns connections ( see picture above) to 24 pinn connections and so on.

Lights:If your power supply has a LED on the back and tit lights up and the system doesn't turn on you know its getting power but not enough to boot the system. If this doesn't light up then your pretty much out of luck as its not even getting enough to power 1 little LED light. However they do make a tool called a power supply tester you can purchase

if your power supply tests bad then its off to Ebay or the store you go but be sure to either take your old one with you so you can get the type of pinn connector and voltage or better for your replacement. It also depends on what you have in your system. a high end Graphics cards, DVD burner, dual core processor, etc the more you have hooked up the power your gonna need so for these days for a average web surfer ,blogger and burn DVDs i suggest at least 500 watts or better!

Posted by Jennifer at 9:28 PM 0 comments Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookLinks to this post Processor problems The Processor: the Brains of the Computer

"Heat kills Electronics" This is why there is a big old heat sink and fan on top where your processor is located. This is meant to disapate heat and help to circulate air inside the case. Heck, there are even Graphics cards that have their own little processor and cooling fan ( newer models)by ATI, Nvidea etc...

Thermal past is also used on top of the CPU to help insulate heat from the cpu and conduct it to the heat sink and fan, its a glue like substance and is NEEDED ... without it in a matter of SECONDS you can burn up you CPU.. Here is a little video tutorial on how to replace a Processor

One thing very critical to remember when installing a CPU, DONT BEND THE PINNS. I these are not completely aligned they will not fit and the cpu will not work! ALso its always a good idea to ground yourself

Question: How Do I Check and Fix Errors on My Hard Drive? The first sign that a hard drive is going bad is logical errors found using a utility like CHKDSK.Answer: The CHKDSK Utility can check and fix hard drive errors. CHKDSK scans the hard drive, corrects logical sector errors, marks bad sectors that cannot be fixed and moves data to safe, healthy places on the hard drive. This utility does not operating automatically - users must manually start it. There is a CHKDSK tutorial available. here /od/maintainandfix/ss/CHKDSK.htm

Posted by Jennifer at 9:13 PM 0 comments Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookLinks to this post Some Basics-- Memory You can NEVER have enough memory!

I get the question alot," how come my Computer is so slow? it wasnt this slow when i bought it. Well, Way back when you bought it maybe the programs or operating system wasnt such a memory hog like Windows vista and Windows 7.. However there could be several other factors for your systems slow performance. Things like, swap file size on your hard drive, physical condition of your hardware. etc.. here is a bullet point of several other causes for slow performance

antirus in the background malware programs running unwanted or un needed programs running in the background add-ons Bad hardware struggling to keep up Worn out hardware ( ie Ram sticks , Processor) Hardware overheating Hopefully its just a simple matter of disabling or uninstalling some malware in your "msconfig" or startup options. However it is recomended to have at least 512 Mb or ram/ memory for windows XP and as for Windows vista or Windows 7, 1GB is the bare minimum with very low settings. Install at least 2-3 Gigabites of memory if you gonna run alot of apps or widgets in Vista or Windows 7. They are small programs but after running for a while they temd to eat up memory. If all else fails and your computer tends to shut it self off there is a program out there you can burn to a cd and have it run right at startup and TEST your ram. Its called "MEMTESTx86" just google it and there are several sites where you can download it with instructions on how to burn it to a d isk. here is a link to it

/

IF none of these step help your situation then it is most likely time to Upgrade or go buy a new Computer as Applications are getting to be more "memory hogs" and ram is cheaper Laptop ram has went From

EDO ram SD ram DDR DDR2 DDR3 the cheapest of the lot is DDR3 most laptops can hold up to 4gb for the lowerend models, and 16-32 gb for the higherend models like Alienware. Desktops are about the same. Store bought Desktops these day comes NEW with at least 4 gb ram whcih for most people are more than enough, untill they get into online gaming, video editing etc..
